The Joondalup Art Gallery has closed permanently. The City of Joondalup decided not to renew the commercial lease on the premises. The keys were handed back to the City at the end of April 2020.
We are all sad to see the gallery closed. It had been the home of the JCAA (Joondalup Community Arts Association) since 2004. The City has offered to help the JCAA to find suitable venues in which to hold events including workshops and exhibitions. However, it is not clear if there is enough interest in the existing membership or in the community.
We need your help. Send us an email to admin@jcaa.org.au. Tell us if you want the JCAA to continue on the basis of having no permanent home (at least for now). Give us your views on what kind of organisation you want. Let us know if you would be willing to volunteer some of your time to help us. We’ll monitor the level of feedback we get to this call out and make a decision by the end of May 2020. It’s all up to you!
