Drawing, Painting & Sculpture Workshops for Youth Aug-Sep 2018

Drawing, Painting and Sculpture Workshops for Youth with Annette Peterson. Separate sessions for 8-12 years and 13-18 years. These workshops are all about “Portraits”. Choose from three types of workshops:
1. Drawing and Painting #1 – Right Brain,
2. Drawing and Painting #2 – Left Brain,
3. Sculpture.
Sessions on Saturday morning (9.30am-12noon) and afternoon (1pm-3.30pm) on 25 Aug, 8 Sep and 15 Sep. Cost is $50 per workshop and includes all material. Each student should bring an A4 photo of themselves or someone to use as a model.

JCAA Members Selection Exhibition – 2-24 Aug 2018

‘JCAA Members Selection Exhibition’ – an exhibition by the members of the Joondalup Community Arts Association at the Joondalup Art Gallery 2-24 Aug 2018 Official Opening Friday 3rd Aug from 6.30pm The “JCAA Members Selection Exhibition”, initiated in 2014, encourages our members to challenge their artistic practice, to play, take risks, and explore innovative ideas, media and processes in both two and three-dimensional form. One artist from each of five categories will be selected by a panel of external judges, and awarded a one-year free membership of the JCAA, as well as being invited to exhibit at the two-week JCAA Art Awards Exhibition to be held in February 2019. Each of the five artists will be required to produce a further 3 artworks for the JCAA Awards Exhibition. External judges will judge the bodies of work, and one artist will be awarded the 2018 JCAA Art Award prize of $500. The following 5 categories are Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media, Photographic and Digital Media, Technical Excellence.

The Noongar Shakespeare Project – 11 Jul 2018

Yirra Yaakin will continue to translate Shakespeare’s Sonnets into the Noongar language and provide an innovative new learning platform for the understanding and appreciation of Noongar language, Shakespeare’s sonnets and culture. This project includes the creative development undertaken by the company, in partnership with Bell Shakespeare, in the translation and adaptation of Macbeth into the Noongar language. In 2018 the chosen sonnets will focus on women.

Joondalup Boorungur an exhibition by Sharyn Egan / 3rd – 27th July / Free entry / As part of the 2018 NAIDOC week celebrations, Sharyn Egan has been commissioned to present Joondalup Boorungur, an exhibition conceived in response to the City’s art collection. Two of the City’s works, by Lindsay Harris and Sally Morgan, with others by Tjyllyungoo Lance Chadd, Richard Walley and Sharyn herself, are presented to share Noongar perspectives on the totemic relationships in our region.

Artbank Roadshow – May 2019 – Calling Unrepresented Artists

The City of Joondalup is proud to announce that it has been selected by national arts organisation Artbank to be their Western Australian co-presenting partner for the Artbank Roadshow. Artbank is a Federal government initiative that supports Australian contemporary visual artists by collecting their work and loaning it to individuals, companies and governments, including diplomatic locations in seventy countries. The Artbank Roadshow team will visit the Joondalup Art Gallery in May 2019 to meet unrepresented artists and consider their work for acquisition.
