Community Art Exhibition Creative Workshops – 25 May to 17 Jun 2018


The City of Joondalup is hosting a series of creative workshops open to the public between 25 May and 17 June 2018. These workshops will take place at JAG as well as other venues in conjunction with the City’s 2018 Community Art Exhibition being held at Lakeside Shopping City 10-22 June.

Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn the basics of sketching, or maybe leatherwork is more your thing? Classes as set to fill up quick, so be sure to register and secure your place.

This Basic sketching workshop is presented by 2017 CIAA participating artist and Popular Choice Award winner, Ross Potter. Join Ross at Joondalup Art Gallery. Ross will teach basic sketching techniques as participants create a special artwork of their own.

Yvonne Doherty will demystify the basics of social media including Facebook and Instagram to workshop participants. Yvonne will encourage participating artists to better promote their art practice in the digital realm by building their own facebook page. This workshop is designed to encourage our local arts community to support one another. Sharing is caring! This basket weaving workshop is presented by Fiona Gavino. Fiona is an artist who works with a broad range of textiles, fibres and natural or found materials to create sculptural, woven artworks that are beautiful as well as environmentally sensitive. Join Fiona in a basket weaving workshop at Currambine Community Centre and create your own woven artwork.

Participants in Kristy Scaddan’s leather purse workshop will learn the basics of hand stitching their very own small coin purse. All materials are supplied. There will be at least 3 colours of premium leather to choose from and many customising options including stamping, painting, monogramming and of course stitching. There will also be a cork option to choose from too which is a natural vegan option which is as durable as leather. This class is of a moderate crafty level. Get in quick as this one will book out fast.
