Ryck Rudd is an emerging artist based in Perth, Western Australia.

After graduating from the Central Institute of Technology with an Advanced Diploma in 2014 Rudd studied at Edith Cowan University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree and was presented with the 2016 Louise Macfie Scholarship for painting. He was the 2016 Artist in Focus award winner from the City’s of Joondalup’s annual Community Art Exhibition. The award supports emerging visual artists with their first solo show at the Joondalup Art Gallery.

Rudd’s primary artworks explore Self and Other relationships through his preferred medium of painting. In his most recent body of work Rudd has looked back to Greco-Roman antiquity for inspiration. Through his painted world of mischievous self-surrogates, the follies of sex, wealth, and power betray themselves. Families war, roles reverse, genders cross, and the wounded keep climbing.

Ben Waters previews Capriccio!, Ryck Rudd’s solo exhibition.

As part of his exhibition, Ryck will be conducting a series of workshops demonstrating his techniques and will also give an artist talk about his practice.
