JCAA Members Selection Exhibition 2016 – Call for Submissions

This is the initial call out to all JCAA Members to participate in our 2016 JCAA Selection Exhibition.

Drop off: Friday 29 July 10am–4pm/ Saturday 30 10am–12pm
Install: Sunday 31 July 10am
Judging: Wednesday 3 August
Opening/ Awarding of Prizes: Friday 5 August 6.30pm
Collection of Artworks: Friday 19 August 12–2pm and 5-7pm

The “JCAA Members Selection Exhibition” was initiated in 2014 to encourage our JCAA members to challenge their artistic practice, to play, take risks, and explore new ideas, media and processes in both two and three dimensional works. We have had very two successful Selection Exhibitions with quality of artworks exceeding our expectations. We hope that 2016 entries will follow this trend.

One artist from each of the five categories on offer will be selected by a panel of judges to go forward to the JCAA Art Awards Exhibition to be held from the Thursday 13th – Friday 21st of October. The winners of each category will be awarded free membership of the JCAA for one year.

Each of the five artists will be required to produce a further 3 artworks for the Awards Exhibition.

One artist will be awarded the overall $500 JCAA Art Awards prize for 2016.

The five categories are

  1.  Painting
  2.  Sculpture
  3.  Mixed Media
  4.  Photography and Digital Media
  5.  Technical Excellence

Entry fee is $20.00 per artwork. Only one entry per person. Please submit original artworks. If artworks are found to have been exhibited before, these will be excluded from the awards. Size restriction: 2D/ wall pieces, 1 X 1 meter, Sculpture 50 X 50 cm base, no height restriction. Although JCAA has an inclusive approach, it reserves the right to make final curatorial decisions.
