The Artful Gene Project: the evolution of an exhibition

In 1915, in Georgian England, Alfred John Bamford was creating pictures for an exhibition. One hundred years later, and half a world away in Western Australia, his great-grandson Michael John Bamford is also preparing for an exhibition: The Artful Gene is the ultimate retrospective and progressive project.

- Artist in Residence: Mike Bamford
Thursday 5 and Friday 13 November Noon-2pm
Wildlife artist Mike Bamford will be in residence at the Joondalup Art Gallery. Come down and watch him sketch, create pen and ink and watercolour artworks and work on the Lake Joondalup mural. Chat with Mike about his work and that of his great-grandfather, early Letchworth Garden City resident and artist, Alfred Bamford. - Lake Joondalup Community Mural
Help Artful Gene Project artist-in-residence, Mike Bamford recreate the thriving, biodiverse, urban environment around Lake Joondalup in the Artful Gene Mural. All ages can contribute to this fun and creative community project. Creation of the mural will start on the western side of the lake, at the Joondalup Art Gallery. It’s free to participate but you must register here. Places are limited. Sessions are from 10am to noon on 7 and 14 November - Guided Walks
As part of the Artful Gene Project, Mike & Mandy Bamford will lead walks of Lake Joondalup in association with the City of Joondalup. The walks are as follows:- ‘Spring in the Park’ Flora Walk
