We are all familiar with the “Totem” which is often used to define family groups, belief systems and identities throughout the world in both historical and contemporary context. Eleven WA sculptors have created a thought provoking, walk through experience featuring a diversity of totems aligned to their own personal concepts and materials of choice.
Exhibits include work created in cement, ceramics, steel, wood, recycled material, industrial discards, found objects, textiles, polystyrene and fibre glass in a variety of sizes. The exhibition runs from Friday 5th April until Friday 19th April.
Exhibitors include Lesley Barrett, Nic Compton, William Dennis, Matthew Dwyer, Josephine Franco, Albie Herbert, Sigrid Rance, Nadia Rasheed, Maris Raudzins, Amanda White and Val Shaw. Also, African Totems created by the Shona Tribe of Zimbabwe and two large wooden totems created by the Warwick Carvers Group on loan from the City of Joondalup permanent collection will be on display.
The Blend(er) Gallery is a joint initiative between the City of Joondalup and the Joondalup Community Arts Association Inc.
