Double the art space
JOONDALUP’S blend(er) gallery is celebrating its new-look display space with two exhibitions — Joondalup Community Arts Association’s Fabrication and the City of Joondalup’s Strike a Pose.
The addition of a dividing wall has provided a second, intimate gallery area where 11 artists are showing 20 pieces on a Fabrication theme, ranging from computer graphics, photography, sculpture and wall hangings to necklaces and headgear.
Gallery co-ordinator Val Shaw, who is among exhibiting artists, said Fabrication supported the city’s Strike a Pose display of fashion photographs in the front gallery.
“As the title infers, Fabrication could have been interpreted totally different to fabric and fashion had the artists wished to do so,” she said.
“It is the first time we have exhibited in our workshop space. The city recently helped us install a moveable partition-wall for this area to be used as a second intimate gallery.
“It has really enhanced this space and given us more options when needed.”
Strike a Pose is part of Joondalup Festival’s Urban Couture component.
Both exhibitions are open until Sunday, April 1, Monday to Thursday, 10am to 2pm and Friday to Sunday, 1pm to 7pm, at the gallery in Central Walk.
